The second-hand marketplace Members Express Displeasure About Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
