Two individuals killed in an attack on a religious center in Manchester have been revealed by authorities as 53-year-old Adrian Daulby, and Melvin Cravitz, 66.

Three others continue receiving medical care with severe trauma after the attacker used an automobile into individuals before attacking with a knife on Thursday morning.

The attack, which authorities have declared was a act of terrorism, occurred on Yom Kippur, the most sacred occasion in the Jewish tradition.

The perpetrator, who was fatally shot at the location, was a 35-year-old UK national of Syrian heritage who was not on record to counter-terrorism authorities, according to government sources.

Public Reaction

"Our hearts are broken," Britain's senior Jewish leader declared.

Speaking to a prominent media outlet, he remarked: "What transpired yesterday was a devastating impact to us, something which we had been concerned about might happen because of the build up."

The attack was not only "an extremely difficult period" for the British Jewish community "but for all of our society," he added.

Security Measures

"The government's duty is to ensure our Jewish citizens, our residents can go about their lives with protection and peace of mind," a cabinet minister declared.

"I do not want the Jewish community in our country to feel compelled to live a limited religious practice, that they cannot conduct their affairs and practice their faith and attend their religious centers in liberty," she continued.

The assailant was not recognized to counter-terrorism police, she informed media outlets, and it was "premature" to say if there was a terrorist cell behind the attack.

Investigation Update

The law enforcement inquiry was "moving forward quickly" and there was an enhanced security deployment at Jewish worship centers across the UK.

"Authorities allocate security funding," the representative commented, adding: "I think we will have to consider what additional measures we can implement to address growing religious prejudice."

Greater Manchester police confirmed they were providing help to loved ones of the two victims.

"Our heartfelt condolences are with the families of the victims at this profoundly challenging moment," law enforcement leadership declared.

He said that trained family liaison officers were in contact with them and would maintain assistance through the coronial process.

"Whilst there are processes which must be followed, we commit to being mindful of religious traditions and concerns and to guaranteeing that the victims and their relatives' requests are followed," he added, mentioning that the two men were from the local area.

Medical examinations are scheduled on the following day, according to authoritative reports.
